Qualification
Dr. T. K. Kalubowila is a distinguished medical administrator and senior public health specialist with over three decades of service in Sri Lanka-s health sector. A graduate of the University of Colombo (1980–1986), he began his medical career with an internship at Panadura Base Hospital, followed by service as a Divisional Medical Officer of Health (DDHS) in Wariyapola. Throughout his career, Dr. Kalubowila has held numerous key positions in both curative and preventive health services. He has served as Medical Officer – Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Regional Epidemiologist in the Ratnapura region, demonstrating his strong commitment to community health and disease prevention. He has also functioned as Medical Officer in Charge (MOIC) at the Peripheral Unit, Kiriella, and as District Medical Officer (DMO) at Base Hospital in Horana. His leadership extended further when he was appointed Medical Superintendent (MS) at Base Hospitals in Horana and Panadura, and later as Director of the National Institute of Health Sciences (NIHS), Kalutara — one of Sri Lanka-s premier training institutions for public health professionals. Dr. Kalubowila subsequently served as Director of the Teaching Hospital, Kalutara, and later as Regional Director of Health Services (RDHS), Kalutara, where he oversaw the planning, coordination, and management of regional healthcare delivery. With a wealth of experience across all levels of the health system, Dr. Kalubowila brings exceptional administrative skill, clinical insight, and public health expertise to his current role as Chairman of the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital. His vision is to guide the hospital towards excellence in patient care, advanced clinical service delivery, and innovation in medical education and research. He continues to advocate for compassionate, patient-centered care and efficient health management systems that serve the evolving needs of Sri Lankan society.
