Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital
Sri Jayewardenepura General hospital which was gifted to the people of Sri Lanka by the government of Japan 38 years ago.
Over the last two years the hospital carried out the largest number of kidney transplants and cardiac surgeries in the country in addition to treating covid patients in a separate unit and having an isolated ICU for Covid patients. The hospital was able to manage without having shortages because the purchases are made directly from suppliers without depending on the government.
It charges only direct cost form the patient and indirect cost is born by the hospital. However, over the last three months the hospital’s expenditure has been more than the income due to the economic crises which has caused a steep increase in prices of drugs and consumable. Therefore, we reluctantly compelled to increase prices to reflect the current costs form the patients. Therefore, the administration expects a crisis as the suppliers are unable to import drugs and consumable due to the scarcity of forex.
The chairman and the board of management of the hospital appeals for your generous help in the way of financial donations, so that the hospital can purchase drugs and consumables which are required for the hospital based on the stocks available, through the suppliers or directly from manufacturers abroad. In this manner wastage can be avoided by purchasing only items which are required.
The board guarantees, that for items purchased thorough donated funds, patients will not be charged and that accounts of the fund will be made accessible to all donors.
